Primary Health Organisations (PHO's)
What is a PHO? We are a group of primary health care providers including doctors, nurses and allied health professionals who collaborate across the region to co-ordinate and improve health care for you and your family.
What are the benefits of enrolling with a PHO?
To help us better understand your health concerns and improve the health of your family. We can work with other health services in your area to make sure that you and your family receive all the benefits and have access to good quality health care.
You will received subsidised visits.
Do I need to enrol? Yes if you want to receive subsidised services and continuity of care.
What should I do? Register by filling out a form at your local general practitioner/family doctor.
Do I have a choice? Yes and you can change your general practitioner/family doctor and Primary Health Organisation at any time.

What health services are available to me?
Community Health Care
Plunket Nurse 0-5years, District Nurse, Public Health Nurse, Ambulance, Disability Needs Assessment, School Health Services, Mental Health Services etc.
Dental Care
Under 18 years free through the School Dental Service (or some private dentists).
How will I know? Call 0800 487 3733 (0800 its free) for adolescents, or contact 09 839 0565 for more information about the School Dental Service (0-12 year olds).

GP Fees
0-6 years old, usually free health checks although some GP visits do charge a small surcharge (between $5-$10). Immunisation and some post-natal care is free.
6-17 years old, partially subsidised and GP visits are charged at about $10-$34.
Adults 18 years and over, full costs per visit usually between $25-$45.
